500 kW β Desert Solar Farm, Jaisalmer
This 500 kW ground-mounted solar power plant was developed on 2.5 acres of dry scrub land on the outskirts of Jaisalmer β one of India's sunniest locations with an average global horizontal irradiance of 6.8 kWh/mΒ²/day. The project was developed for a private landowner under the RERC open-access framework, with the generated electricity sold to an industrial consumer 40 km away via RVPNL's intra-state transmission network.
FGPS Solar used single-axis horizontal trackers to maximise energy harvest, increasing generation by 18β22% compared to a fixed-tilt installation. The mounting structure was designed per IS:875 Part 3 for the high-wind zone applicable to the Thar Desert region. Eight 63 kW three-phase string inverters feed into a 400V MV transformer, which steps up to 33 kV for grid injection.
The project secured all RVPNL interconnection approvals, RERC open-access charges approvals, and RPO compliance certificates within 90 days of financial closure. Generation data is monitored via a SCADA system with 15-minute interval logging.
